Q: How did you begin the label Italo Business?
A: It was the late 2005 when I met Dandi & Ugo. At that time they did their first big hit “Beat Conductor” and I ask to them a remix for a track that I did as “Raymond Barry”. After some months we decided to make an our record label to release our own tracks .
Q: Explain to us a bit more about what a net label is?
A: We don’t release anymore tracks as “netlabel”. As netlabel we gave a free distribution online trough Creative Commons licenses that encourage works to be shared. It was a way to promote music that none wanted to release.
Q: How do you find working with your brother? Any sibling rivalries?
A: My brother taught me how to make music and we work together often without discussion but sometime we “fight” about sounds….
Q: What is next for the label Italo Business?
A: We will keep to release techno and minimal, trying to discover some new talented producers. From this January we will release also tech and deep house trough our new label “Relogical Records”
Q: What forthcoming releases do you have for Piatto?
A: There are some remixes and new tracks for several labels. Echoes from Israel, Bosphorus from Turkey, Diva from Italy, 54 Music from UK… and obviously Italo Business and N.O.I.A. Records. Within’ this year we would also release our first LP.
Q: Which track are you most proud to have your name next to?
A: Usually after some months I get sick of my tracks. The one I like more is “Evil Live” released by Umek’s label “1605”
Q: Which track produced by another artist do you wish you produced?
A: Without any doubt the Len Faki remix of Dustin Zahn “Stranger (To Stabilty)”
Q: How do you think techno has changed recently over the last 12 months?
A: I think we can’t talk about changes. At this time there are a lot of different styles. If you check the techno charts you can see this very easily.
Q: Vinyl or digital? What is your weapon of choice?
A: Now I go for digital but I still like my old vinyls!
Q: Can you give us a tour of your studio?
A: We work with a Mac using Logic 9 and a lot of software instruments and samples. When we go analog (or virtual analog) we switch on these stuff: Roland TR 808, TR-707, SH-1, MC202, JP 8000, MKS 80, RE 201, Korg MS20, Novation Basstation, Nova Laptop, Drumstation, Oberheim DMX, Marshall Valve Preamp, Sherman FilterBank, Electrix Filter Factory and other old toys.
